God of War III (or God of War 3)

God of War III finds Kratos raining carnage and destruction upon the Gods who have betrayed him and the entire Ancient Greek world. Armed with his deadly double-chained blades, Kratos will take on mythology’s darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles on his merciless quest to destroy Olympus and the mighty Zeus himself.

  • New deadly weapons like the Cestus, powerful metal gauntlets with devastating strength, and other brutal instruments of war that open up ruthless new techniques
  • The menacing creatures of Greek mythology can now be manipulated against their will, to cross chasms, inflict blind rage against enemies, reveal puzzles and secrets, and as tools of complete annihilation
  • God of War III picks up exactly where God of War II left off – Kratos must take his quest for vengeance to the very stronghold of the Zeus.
  • True to the series roots, the four pillars of game play - brutal combat, intricate puzzles, exploration of awe-inspiring worlds, and a compelling story - all return
  • God of War III is the epic conclusion to the Greek mythological trilogy, which will complete Kratos' story that began in the original title for the PlayStation 2.

About SCEA

PlayStation® Story

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) is responsible for keeping PlayStation® growing and thriving in the United States and Canada. Based in Foster City, California, SCEA serves as headquarters for all North American operations and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) that reports directly back to SCE in Japan.

We make advanced hardware that enables the most talented developers to produce vanguard titles and set new standards in interactive entertainment. Our goal is to make a family of products that completely changes the definition of home entertainment. It doesn’t matter if you’re a hard-core gamer whose thumb calluses that can deflect machine gun fire or if you just love Blu-ray movies, PlayStation® entertainment products have something for you.

PlayStation® Story

Long before there was such a thing as affordable CD-ROM gaming or 3D polygonal graphics, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) set the not-too-humble goal of creating a gaming platform that would become as pervasive as the VCR and change the industry forever.

In 1994, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) was founded as the North America division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. After about four years to in development, the PlayStation® game console was introduced in the United States in 1995.

The launch of the PlayStation® brand was, well, kind of a big deal. In the very first weekend, more than 100,000 units were sold. In the first six months, over a million were sold. In April 1997, with nearly 4 million PlayStation® game consoles in North America, we found a new way connect with PlayStation® owners. Our interactive relationship marketing program, PlayStation® Underground, gives us the opportunity to recognize and reward loyal gamers. Members of the PlayStation® Underground belong to a subculture of intense gamers. They get to play new games first and get the scoop on upcoming games, merchandise, and special offers.

Next we set our sights on developing the PlayStation®2, which became available to consumers in November 2000. We boosted its power, making it possible for smooth, lifelike animation to be shown in real time. Then we added the exciting ability to play CDs and DVD movies. This new system reached beyond gaming, and became the center of home entertainment. Then in August 2002, we introduced the option to play games online with the new Network Adaptor (Ethernet/modem) for PlayStation®2. This helped push forward the online multiplayer gaming revolution that we all know, love and play non-stop today.

In March 2005, the PlayStation®Portable (PSP®) was launched in North America, bringing an unparalleled gaming experience to a handheld platform. With graphics rendering capability comparable to that of the PlayStation®2 system, the PSP® system brought the console experience to a 4.3-inch widescreen, high-resolution TFT display.

On November 17, 2006, Sony released the PlayStation®3 system. The PS3 system has the most advanced computer system available. It combines Cell and RSX™ processors with a vast catalog of PlayStation® and PlayStation®2 software titles to create a whole new level of game-play. With its Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD), the PlayStation®3 system gives users the power to download a variety of games, add-ons, movies and TV shows and gives them access online games. Equipped with basic input/output ports, PlayStation®3 supports a broad range of displays from conventional NTSC/PAL standard TVs to the latest full HD (1080i/1080p) flat panel displays, offering the joy of the most advanced computer entertainment contents to homes around the world.
